Soyuz Silver 17 – A sister model to the 017 TUBE with even greater presence and transparency
The new Silver 17 is a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone that impresses with its exceptionally natural high-frequency reproduction and remarkable sense of air. At the same time, it retains the classic, full-bodied sound character for which the 017 Series is known. It delivers the same larger-than-life low end and rich midrange as its sister model, the 017 TUBE, while adding even greater presence and transparency—remaining clear and open at all times, without ever sounding harsh.
Edge-Terminated Capsule
The newly developed edge-terminated S17E capsule, a variant of the proven S17 design, is the primary contributor to the sonic differences compared to the 017 TUBE. By routing the polarization contact along the outer edge of the capsule, the diaphragm is able to move more freely. The result is an even more refined and airy sound, with enhanced detail and exceptionally open reproduction.
Greater presence in the mix & faster workflow
Vocals, guitars, keyboards, and other sound sources cut through the mix effortlessly. Acoustic instruments gain a greater sense of liveliness, while transients are captured with precision yet remain natural. The Silver 17 combines exactly the qualities demanded by modern productions, minimizing the need for corrective EQ and other post-processing.
Original Soyuz Design
Like every Soyuz microphone, the Silver 17 is an original design developed entirely by the Soyuz team. At the heart of the circuit is a carefully selected 6ZH1P vacuum tube. The microphone bodies are hand-turned, the transformers are wound in-house, and the capsule backplates are precision-machined, polished, and individually tensioned by hand. In addition, all electrical connections are made using true point-to-point wiring—a no-compromise manufacturing approach that ensures the highest levels of quality, reliability, and longevity.
