Drop 006 - Marshmallow

The Rhodes MK8 ‘Marshmallow’, the sixth Custom Shop release, explores a softer side of
design - a study in pastel hues, retro tonal language, and a singular focus on colour. Inspired
by the pillowy forms and lighthearted spirit of classic marshmallows, the instrument
embraces a playful reference point, interpreted through the refined craftsmanship of the
Rhodes Custom Shop.
A Pastel Pink hood and matching hood strip form the heart of the design, evoking a
confectionery feel that is at once nostalgic and contemporary. The pastel finish flows
seamlessly through the tolex base and cheekblocks, creating an understated, yet striking
silhouette.
Every detail reflects a design language rooted in restraint and intention. From the Pastel
Pink front panel, FX and preamp inlays, and custom Rose Pink dial caps, to the
silver-on-rose-pink logo plates and colour-matched sustain pedal with matching footplate,
each element contributes to a carefully balanced composition.
Hand-built in Leeds, UK, by Rhodes Master Builders, the MK8 ‘Marshmallow’ delivers the
expressive depth, warmth and dynamic nuance that define the MK8’s sonic identity. Beneath
its pastel exterior lies the same finely engineered instrument trusted by players and
collectors worldwide - rich in character, endlessly expressive, and sounding every bit as
sweet as it looks.
Produced in extremely limited numbers, defined by the number of orders placed during the
drop, and never to be repeated, the Rhodes MK8 'Marshmallow' captures a rare moment of
levity within the Custom Shop series. Soft in colour yet striking in presence, this piano is
designed to stand apart and to inspire.
