The BIGSBY Pedal is a revolutionary polyphonic pitch shifter that uses a powerful SHARC® processor to instill any guitar with the elusive characteristics inherent in one of the instrument’s most iconic vibrato systems. Because Paul Bigsby’s 1951 spring-loaded masterpiece is quite simply the stuff of legend and no vibrato bridge sounds quite like it. Gamechanger Audio specifically developed a hybrid algorithm that facilitates smooth, polyphonic real-time pitch-shifting in the lower harmonic intervals typical of Bigsby-style vibratos—while also preserving natural timbres of the instruments plugged into it. We specifically worked to ensure it melds seamlessly with electric and acoustic guitar (standard 6-string, baritone, and bass), mandolins, banjos, and more.
Despite its roots in the past, the BIGSBY Pedal’s unique format and stellar build quality open the door to sounds you simply couldn’t get with traditional hand-operated hardware. Your hands are freed to play more intricate patterns … creative string-bending combinations let you mimic beautiful lap-steel and slide-inspired licks … thoughtful pairing with other instruments and/or effects lends the potential for sounds you’ve never heard before. Even better, it’s always on—all you have to do to imbue your music with Bigsby magic is activate the pedal bar.
Another key component of the BIGSBY Pedal’s sound is its DETUNE parameter—a precision crafted algorithm designed to emulate the imperfections and dissonant properties of traditional mechanical string-bending hardware. This makes vibrato effects produced by the BIGSBY Pedal virtually indistinguishable from the real deal.
What’s more, the BIGSBY Pedal’s unique features and modes enable you to use it for much more than simple pitch bending:
- AUTO mode enables a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) that controls the pitch while the foot-pedal controls the depth of the effect.
- The BLEND control allows for dynamic chorus and harmonizing sounds.
- An external footswitch input lets you use the pedal in latching mode for typical pitch-shifting, octave, detune, and chorus functions.
- The expression output lets you use BIGSBY to control other audio gear—either in conjunction with or separately from BIGSBY’s pitch-shifting capabilities.
- MIDI (both Program Change and Control Change) can be used to govern all BIGSBY Pedal parameters, as well as recall presets and clock sync.
FEATURES / BULLET POINTS
- Polyphonic pitch shifting via reinforced original-style activator bar and a carefully selected spring that yields the same cushy feel and unique bounce as hand-activated models
- Capable of up to 12 semitone pitch-shifts—up or down—with shift range customizable in both directions
- High-quality buffered bypass and seamless transitions into and out of bypass
- Multifunction LED-lit knobs whose color and intensity indicate selected parameters and values
- AUTO mode’s LFO controls pitch-bend rate, enabling you to use the pedal to control pitch-bend depth
- Invert switch allows you to change pitch-shift direction
- BLEND control lets you mix in more DRY signal for chorus and harmonizer-like sounds
- DETUNE control emulates unique overtones and tonal nuances of hardware tremolo systems
- Full MIDI PC and CC control over all parameters, with extended functionality (3.5 mm TRS-to-5-pin DIN MIDI adapter included)
- 10 user presets accessible via MIDI PC
- Expression output (with adjustable depth and center-position offset) enables control of other gear
- Latching-mode compatible (via 1/4" TS external footswitches with momentary or toggle functionality)
- KNOB LOCK feature prevents accidental parameter adjustment during performance
- Powered by a standard 9V DC center-negative power supply with at least 500 mA (not included)
